Courses offered by the Uttarakhand Open University for Working Professionals!

The Uttarakhand Open University is a state university, it was established with a vision to make education convenient and accessible to all, especially to those who are deprived of education due to financial stagnancy. Many people in Uttarakhand are forced to start working at an early age, which screachingly halts their higher education.

It is an initiative by the state government to offer an educational platform, especially for those who are working and has no time for taking regular classes. The courses offered are primarily in Hindi but you have an option to give your examination in Hindi or English. The fee structure is set, taking in consideration the poor and the lower middle class section primarily. The university charge nominal fees, you can easily get study material from the market.

The quality of education is not compromised even though there are no regular classes, one must submit projects/assignments according to the set guidelines, ensuring optimum education in the field desire. Education is the backbone of employment. One must know the value of education with the value of money.

The courses offered by the UOU are divided into three groups: first is the section of undergraduate programmes for those who have completed their 10+2 and had started working or do not have the financial condition for regular college.

The next section is for the postgraduate programmes with and without entrance tests, then is post graduate diploma programmes also with and without entrance tests.

UOU also conduct the diploma programmes and the short term certificate courses.

The variety of courses offered by them for graduation are B.A in Geography, Art, Music, Commerce, B. Sc, B.C.A, B.B.A, Bachelor in Yoga and Naturopathy, Bachelors in Travel and Tourism Management, Hotel Management.

With this if we check the list of Post Graduation (degree) courses like MCA, Master of Geo Informatics, Master of ITC, MA in Yoga, Botany, Chemistry, Physics. M Commerce, M. A in Education, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Work, Sociology, Law, Masters in Journalism & Communication, Masters in Hotel management, Travel and Tourism, all of this is for graduates in specific streams.

#Note: They conduct entrance examination in MBA.

Post Graduate diploma course in Computer Application, Geo Disaster Management, Cyber Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, Administration and Public relations are also there for a year or so.

#Note 2: They also conduct entrance examination for diploma courses of Marketing Management and HR management.

For subjects like yoga & naturopathy, phalit jyotish, the 10+2 graduation level diploma is given. There are several other subjects too under this section.

For some courses UOU also offers certificates, these are short term courses on Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Commercial Flower Production, vegetable production etc.

Other than this there are many provisions provided by the University, which makes the admission process, studying while the session is on and submitting the projects or assessments a cakewalk.

Everything is done in a systematic way, people working there  are cordial, friendly and helping. And it is equivalent to the other degrees and certificates given by other Universities and Colleges.
