Mussoorie Modern School was established by the Mussoorie Modern Education Society In March 1970.
Mussoorie Modern School is situated in the summit of a hill at an elevation of 6,800 feet. It is one of the most developed areas of the town. The spot selected is unique and one of the healthiest spots of Mussoorie. Snow-clad higher ranges of the Himalayas are clearly visible from the school campus for the greater part of the year. All night, the town of Mussoorie and Dehradun can be viewed with their twinkling lights.
The place is convenient for parents coming to Mussoorie to visit their children as one can reach the school in a car right upto the school gate.
It is a co-educational school providing a board education through the medium of English for children from pre-primary class to XII. There are about 550 students on the rolls drawn from various countries. It is affiliated to the Council of Indian school Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. Pupils are prepared for I.C.S.E. (Year - 10) and I.S.C. (Year - 12) examinations.
It is primarily a boarding school but a few students attend as day-scholars. It has five spacious hostels each under the charge of a capable supervisor. There is a separate hostel for girls. The school has a well-equipped infirmary in the hands of a well-qualified nurse. There is a visiting doctor.
The main aim of the school is academic excellence, the formation of the child’s character, the inculcation of the habits of discipline, truth, honesty and a spirit of total secularity with no emphasis on any religion and yet with a respect for all religions.
The school is divided into two sections:
1) School Section - Lower Kindergarten to Class X (I.C.S.E.)
2) College Section - Classes XI and XII (I.S.C.)
The scholastic year is from March to November.
