Dehradun to New Delhi trains

DehraDun, the state capital of Uttarakhand connects well to the country capital of New Delhi. Although the roads that connect the two cities are well built, but with the traffic growing every year, the tourists prefer to opt for the train journey.

There are two main trains that connect DehraDun and New Delhi and they are:
1. AC Special Train, also called as Nanda Devi Express
2. Mussourie Express

Nanda Devi express is for the passengers who want to cover the distance, all night, sleeping. It departs DehraDun past 11:00 PM and reaches New Delhi after 05:00 AM. So, moreover, the passengers enter the train, sleep and next day when they wake up, they are already in New Delhi. Nanda Devi train is fully air conditioned train, and is in huge demand during the summer season.

Mussourie Express also covers the same journey, but takes longer than Nanda Devi. It starts earlier than Nanda Devi and reaches later than Nanda Devi. Not only the journey time is longer, but the distance travelled is also longer, due to the different route taken. Mussourie Express is not fully air conditioned train, it has general as well as sleeper coaches.

Both the trains pass through Haridwar, which is a popular religious destination in Uttarakhand. Haridwar is close to Rishikesh, which is the starting point of the famous chaar dhaam yatra in Uttarakhand covering Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri.

There are few other trains as well like Mumbai Express, which go via New Delhi, but the most prominent ones are the above two.
