Haridwar to Rishikesh is hardly 20 km journey, with majority of the route passing besides the famous Rajaji National Park. The train and bus connectivity from/to Haridwar is better as compared to Haridwar. Hence, the tourists, who want to go to Rishikesh, travel via Haridwar. There are regular bus services from Haridwar to Rishikesh. Even though, the distance is not much, traffic may delay the journey and tourists are advised to plan accordingly.

Raiwala is an important city/village, which comes on this route. Raiwala is on the outskirts of Haridwar and is famous for military cantonment and Forest Depots. Raiwala has its own railway station as well.

There is one more route for this travel, that is via Chilla Dam. There is a dam and wild life sanctuary as well for the tourists. The Chilla Dam produces the electricity, which can be consumed by the nearby cities.

The route primarily goes through the forests and few bridges, to cross Ganges. Although, the roads are well built.
