Shri Devdutt Arya, the founder of The Himalayan Public School, was one of the eminent personalities of Dehradun. His mission was to constitute a public school in Dehradun when 'Chief's College' was the ultimate school experience. The Himalayan Public School is meant to provide the youth of the country with an opportunity to get an all-round education based on an adaptation of the English public school system on India's tradition-enriched soil.
The Himalayan Public School is based on Indian culture, concept of purification of mind, self-awareness and becoming better human beings. This school is of the first kind of Public School, set up to give an opportunity in our city for bright children to have a good meaningful Public School Education, having it's roots in our rich and great culture. The Dev Vimal Herbal Heritage & Educational Society, Registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 of the Govt. of India and / or under Acts of the State Govt. as Educational Society, runs the school with the aim of reducing the unbearable pressure and tension prevailing upon the parents to have useful and purposeful education for their children.
The School aims to help children to make adequate and proper use of their abilities so that they not only become seekers of knowledge and it's use in the right spirit but also are able to produce new knowledge, which is so essential for the development of the society. The school aims to build certain qualities in children in the form of skills and attitudes, which can be developed through an effective use of curriculum. The school further aims to inculcate among the children, the awareness of respecting and honouring the great Indian traditions and still maintaining the best features of notable and progressive English Medium Public School, functioning on the basis of 'Education for all'.
