Indo Tibetan Border Police Force Academy formerly known as High Altitude Defence And Survival Academy was
established at this location in 1976 on ad-hoc basis and formally organized in September, 1978 consequent upon reorganization
of the force and was renamed as ITBP ACADEMY in 1990. At present the Academy is responsible for basic training of GOs and SOs
of all cadres, pre promotional mandatory courses for Officers, SOs and Ors, like Higher Command Course, Senior Command
Management Course, Junior Command Management Course, Senior Inspector Refresher Course, SOs Tac Course, Platoon Commander
Course and Courses of specialized nature are also conducted in Academy. The Academy consists of two wings viz. ADM and COMBAT
WING. These work under their respective Commandants. The Adm wing is situated at Cainville Estate and Combat wing at Astel
Estate situated at a distance of four (04) KMs from each other.
OBJECTIVES
a) To develop pride in uniform.
b) To make the officers think and work like a team by developing skills of team work.
c) To develop physical fitness and endurance.
d) To develop soldierly skills.
e) To bring about attitudinal changes.
f) To develop leadership qualities.
g) To make raw men into hard core professional soldiers.
